There are a lot of wide openers this week and none of them seem like guaranteed hits, though I’d guess that GOAT will come out on top easily.

OTHER RELEASES

We are only looking at films that have had trailers released on Rotten Tomatoes’ trailer YouTube Channels. Below are some other films that are releasing this weekend that we haven’t considered.

Scarlet (Expands Wide)
Broken Bird (Limited)
DSP Dev 2 (Limited)
Hunting Jessica Brok (Limited)
Mimics (Limited)
The Mortuary Assistant (Limited)
O’Romeo (Limited)
The Observance (Limited)
The Swedish Connection (Limited)

WIDE RELEASES
COLD STORAGE CRIME 101 GOAT GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, DON’T DIE WUTHERING HEIGHTS

Cold Storage

Wesley Lovell: It looks like an waste of time but it might be a humorous one.

Pete Patrick: Might be OK but it just doesn’t appeal to me.

Thomas La Tourrette: Gore is not my favorite, but perhaps it will be funnier than the trailer.

Crime 101

Wesley Lovell: A familiar crime thriller with nothing but actors to sell itself.

Pete Patrick: Good cast could make something of what seems like a routine thriller.

Thomas La Tourrette: Decent cast but it looks like a generic thriller without any real reason to see it.

GOAT

Wesley Lovell: An underwhelming looking animated film that reminds of the various animated basketball films throughout the years.

Pete Patrick: Looks dreadful.

Thomas La Tourrette: It might be good, but it looks like almost any animated film of someone overcoming adversity.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die

Wesley Lovell: It might be a fun sci-fi comedy but the trailer doesn’t entirely sell it.

Pete Patrick: An AI parody that could be fun.

Thomas La Tourrette: This sounded promising, but the trailer did not excite. Will wait for more reviews.

Wuthering Heights

Wesley Lovell: Emerald Fennell is one of the most exciting modern filmmakers and early buzz is terrific.

Pete Patrick: I don’t know what to make of this latest version of the classic.

Thomas La Tourrette: This seemed like it should be good, but very mixed reviews make me wonder about it.

LIMITED RELEASES
BLADES OF THE GUARDIANS BY DESIGN NIRVANNA THE BAND THE SHOW THE MOVIE

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: Nothing that leaps out as required viewing but a couple of titles that might be interesting.

Pete Patrick: The weirdly funny By Design is the only one that piques my interest.

Thomas La Tourrette: None of them look that appealing, and By Design just seems weird. The reviews of Nirvanna make it sound worth seeing, though it had a terrible trailer, so I am unsure about it.
