Return to Silent Hill will compete against Mercy and while I’d like to believe it can overcome, the limited success of 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple last week, horror might not be in ascendance.

WIDE RELEASES
CLIKA MERCY RETURN TO SILENT HILL

Clika

Wesley Lovell: A music film that doesn’t look exciting.

Pete Patrick: Looks earnest if a bit too familiar.

Thomas La Tourrette: A very tepid and cliched trailer shows a man trying to make it in the music business and nothing looks new or interesting about it.

Mercy

Wesley Lovell: Chris Pratt earned a spot on my avoid list, so I’m a hard “no.”

Pete Patrick: The headache inducing trailer is turnoff for me.

Thomas La Tourrette: There is a bit of promise to this sci-fi thriller about a man trying to prove his innocence to an AI judge, but leaving him only in his chair may make it less interesting over time.

Return to Silent Hill

Wesley Lovell: I’m intrigued by the concept and the video game but not sold on either.

Pete Patrick: Appears be a sequel of a well-regarded 20-year-old film by the same director, so maybe.

Thomas La Tourrette: I have a feeling that I am not the demographic for movies based on video games and nothing about the trailer made me want to see this film.

LIMITED RELEASES
ARCO H IS FOR HAWK

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: I’ve already seen Arco, so my vote reflects how I felt before seeing it.

Pete Patrick: Arco has good reviews and H Is for Hawk has a strong cast so there’s a strong possibility that I would like them, but I’m in no rush to see either one.

Thomas La Tourrette: I will see Arco as it is a probable Oscar nominee, and the visuals look luscious. H Is for Hawk looks worth seeing for Claire Foy’s performance, but I am not sure that the film itself will be amazing.
