While it would be lovely if Joy Ride could top Insidious: The Red Door at the box office, it doesn’t seem a likely process. The former is an unknown player to most audiences and unless word of mouth builds business into Saturday/Sunday, the existing fandom of Insidious will likely mean a higher final tally.

OTHER RELEASES

We are only looking at films that have had trailers released on Rotten Tomatoes’ trailer YouTube Channels. Below are some other films that are releasing this weekend that we haven’t considered.

Bad Girl Boogey (Limited)
Sound of Freedom (Limited)
The YouTube Effect (Limited)

WIDE RELEASES

INSIDIOUS: THE RED DOOR

JOY RIDE

Insidious: The Red Door

Wesley Lovell: I’ve never seen one of this franchise’s films and this one doesn’t make me want to see them.

Peter J. Patrick: I haven’t been induced to see anything in this franchise before and I’m not starting now.

Thomas La Tourrette: This series has never appealed to me.

Joy Ride

Wesley Lovell: Early word is great, but I’d be signed up for this even if it weren’t.

Peter J. Patrick: Looks like something with a good premise poorly executed.

Thomas La Tourrette: The reviewers like it, but I found little humor in the trailer. Perhaps more positive reviews will sway me to this comedy.

LIMITED RELEASES

AMANDA

BIOSPHERE

EARTH MAMA

THE LESSON

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: None of these get me excited, but Biosphere and The Lesson might be mildly engaging.

Peter J. Patrick: Earth Mama and The Lesson could be worth a look. The others, not so much.

Thomas La Tourrette: All of the films have a small but decent set of reviews, but none of the trailers really appealed. Right now none are on my radar to see.
