Every studio was so afraid of the juggernaut of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise that they wouldn’t even schedule another wide release against it.

Consensus

Below is a list of what we have come to a general consensus on. The number in parens represents the percentage of our contributors who agree with the statement.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides: The series has burned so many bridges that it’s no wonder few want to see it (67%), but whether it’s a must see or not, it will still be considered for several tech Oscars (100%).
Midnight in Paris: This is a must see in many books (67%) and possibly even a minor Oscar contender (100%).

Thoughts After the second and third films, I swore I wouldn’t watch this series again, but I probably will end up catching it this weekend with friends.
