If there were any film that could possibly break the pandemic box office curse, it’s this film, a horror comedy. It probably won’t do very well, but it could outperform expectations.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): I can’t help but be interested in this concept. The first trailer being hilarious certainly helped. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Horror comedy looks more silly than scary. Thomas LaTourette (TL): This could be fun, though it was wearing out its welcome by the end of the trailer. It helps to have a strong actor like Vince Vaughan in the lead.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): The film doesn’t seem that appealing to me, but seeing Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan acting together may be a treat. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Moody relationship drama has gotten mixed reviews but seems at least worth a look. Thomas LaTourette (TL): The reviews are complimentary especially of the two lead performances, but a prim trailer fails to excite. Still, I am looking forward to it.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): The title is a strike against it, as is the film’s trailer and Alec Baldwin’s appearance (after his rather public anger issues in the past). Peter J. Patrick (PP): Dullish looking comedy holds no interest for me. Thomas LaTourette (TL): A good cast feels wasted in this, though maybe it will prove better than the trailer. I doubt that, however.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): While it looks like a standard-issue indie seriocomedy, the trailer prsented a few potentially redeeming elements. Peter J. Patrick (PP): This film seems to have been “coming soon” for so long I feel I’ve already seen it. Thomas LaTourette (TL): The characters are unlikeable and I have little interest in spending time with them. Though surprisingly, the reviews are very good.

Individual Commentary:
Wesley Lovell (WL): I like Margot Robbie, but this film looks like a poor attempt to give her an Oscar vehicle and it most certainly not work. Peter J. Patrick (PP): Gal on the run melodrama may appeal to Margot Robbie fans more than general audiences. Thomas LaTourette (TL): Margot Robbie looks radiant, but the story really did not grab me.
