In our fiftieth issue of Film Fun Friday, we introduced a new game called Modern Casting Couch. Since it’s launch, the possibilities became huge and it doesn’t feel like the right fit for that weekly game post. Instead, we’re launching it now as its own, stand-alone game. Each month, we’ll present one film that we will re-cast with modern actors. You get to play the casting director (without the couch) removing the existing stars and replacing them with living actors. This is meant to be fun and I encourage discussion on choices being made. While some larger casts may have a number of important characters, I will attempt to limit the number of characters (probably around 7) to re-cast. The game will be conducted over a four-week period (getting 13 films done every year).

Week 1: We’ll post the title of the film for that month’s challenge. Everyone will submit suggestions for each member of the cast posted.
Week 2: The full list of submitted casting choices will be posted. Everyone will rank the suggestions in order of preference.
Week 3: The final cast will be revealed. Everyone will have an opportunity to discuss the choices. Everyone will also submit a list of films they would like see selected for the next month’s game.
Week 4: All film suggestions will be posted. Everyone will rank the suggestions in order of preference.

Because I started this game in Film Fun Friday, we’ve posted a number of films already that we’ve taken a few casting decisions on. I want to reboot these films and start fresh. So, to kick of this new feature, all three films are featured below. We’ll use our first month to cast all three films before moving back to one film each month after four weeks. Please note that I encourage everyone who submitted previously to make selections again. If not, I can use your prior choices. Also, please note that the casting couch session for The Sound of Music has been modified to change who is selected.
