What’s most interesting here is just how well The Shape of Water did while the other technical marvel of the year, Dunkirk received less than half the nominations. Other hot takes are the absence of Call Me By Your Name, largely ignored, and the year’s other major gay drama BPM (Beats Per Minute missing the Foreign Language Film race.
