Although it didn’t even get nominated for Best Picture, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 is the big winner here. No other film got two or more nominations save Harry. And apart from the wins by The Artist, Moneyball and Hugo, most of the rest of the choices were fairly eclectic covering a wide range of film styles. Other than Animated Feature, though, their winners seldom have a chance at Oscar glory and even this year I don’t think Arthur Christmas can triumph over others in the running. Picture, Animated Feature and Director winners have a 5-for-5 correlation to their corresponding Oscar categories in terms of nominations, though I think their Director choice is going to miss out in the end. Actress, Cinematography and Documentary Feature winners are also likely Oscar nominees at a four out of five ratio.
