Adding a new category this year for animation, the Art Directors Guild have entered into the Oscar race with a slate that looks like it’s expected to look. The notable exclusions here are The Greatest Showman, Alien: Covenant, The Beguiled, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Phantom Thread, Victoria & Abdul, and Wonderstruck. Of these, only three, Greatest Showman, Phantom Thread, and Victoria & Abdul, had any realistic shots at nomination.
