What do these nominations say about the race? It’s anything but over. No Into the Woods, no The Hobbit, no Imitation Game, no Transformers. Birdman seems like the most odd-ball choice in this group while I wouldn’t bet against American Sniper, Guardians of the Galaxy or Interstellar. However, last year’s Marvel entry, Iron Man 3 was replaced by The Hobbit at the Oscars, so even Guardians may not be assured. Unbroken surprisingly sticks around and may be easily replaced by any of the three previously-mentioned entries. I’ll have to revise my predictions now.
