For the first time in its history, the Producers Guild has ended in a tie giving their awards to 12 Years a Slave and Gravity. With American Hustle shut out, this race may have shifted into a two-film competition. Don’t count David O. Russell out. He could still pick up the DGA prize next weekend and we’ll then be no clearer than we were two months ago.

This is a surprise that’s gonna make us all go crazy with the predictions:
Either Gravity makes a sweep of many technical awards and director and picture
Or Gravity gets the tecnichal achievements like Life of Pi including director but the Picture award goes to a film with the less number of oscar.
We are looking at 12 years a slave probably winning adapted screenplay, supporting actress and best picture and gravity winning sound effects, sound, visual effects, cinematography, editing and director. That’s 6 against 3.
Gravity and Captain Phillips have a great chance of winning best editing. And yes, there’s a possibility that Steve McQueen wins best Director, he’s made two other great films that have been snubbed by the academy but he’s very respected.
So there’s a chance Best Picture, Director, Supporting Actress and Adapted Screenplay match 5 for Gravity, or maybe Gravity will win only 4 awards if they finally award Roger Deakins for his work in Prisoners. That’s my favorite cinematography of the year and the eleventh nomination for Roger (with no previous win)
