Taking a completely different approach than its East Coast counterpart, The Los Angeles Film Critics Association go completely unique directions, giving its top prize to Michael Haneke’s Amour, along with top prizes for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress to The Master. Noteworthy here is that it wasn’t the young star of Beasts of the Southern Wild that picked up a prize this year, it was her co-star Dwight Henry in Best Supporting Actress. Emmanuelle Riva receives her second prize so far this year while Jennifer Lawrence ties her for Best Actress in Silver Linings Playbook.
