The American Cinema Editors have announced the nominees for the 54th Annual Eddie Awards. The big surprise here is that Best Picture contender Selma is completely missing with a six-film lineup. Nightcrawler and Whiplash got surprise nominations, which puts them in stronger position for Best Picture nominations. The rest of the year’s major contenders are present (Birdman, Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Imitation Game) along with bubble Best Picture contenders Gone Girl and Into the Woods. Longshot Best Picture contender Guardians of the Galaxy was even included. Other major non-inclusions: The Theory of Everything, Foxcatcher, Interstellar, A Most Violent Year and Unbroken.
