The challenge of using the Grammys to predict the Oscars is that the Grammy eligibility period is three months off the normal Oscar eligiblity period. That’s why you have films like The Descendants, The Muppets and The Artist (and several others) on the below list. The only Oscar eligible entries on the Grammy list this year are Marley and Rock of Ages (neither of which will be eligible for Original Score or Original Song Oscars since neither have original music) on the Compilation Soundtrack chart; The Dark Knight Rises in Score Soundtrack; and the two songs from The Hunger Games and one song from Brave in the Best Song category. While The Dark Knight Rises could be an Oscar nominee, the most likely Oscar crossovers are those songs where all three are at least in the hunt for nominations.
