So much for all those pundits who said Les Misérables wasn’t going to do well with the directorial effort of Tom Hooper being criticized. Nabbing a critical precursor nomination, Hooper is joined by first-timer Ben Affleck and three other previous winners: Kathryn Bigelow, Ang Lee and Steven Spielberg. Notably missing is Paul Thomas Anderson, a name many expected to see here.

    I’m very dissapointed not seeing Paul Thomas Anderson & Michael Haneke in that list.

    Tom Hooper & Ang Lee should go and leave the spot for these two

    So, support for The Master has cooled and Les Miserables shows it has some life. I’m still thinking we won’t be 5 for 5 with the guilds/director nominations.
