Another group that has gone a different path with a number of its nominations, including a heavy favoring of The Impossible, Take This Waltz and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. While the latter film has received its share of attention, the first two have been largely ignored outside of Watts and minimally McGregor. Two critical favorites didn’t make it into their Best Picture or Best Director slates: Lincoln and The Master despite a few acting nominatoins.
