Steve McQueen is having a good day today with two Best Picture prizes (Online Film Critics Society and St. Louis Critics) and the most standard nominations from the Broadcast Critics. The narrative was drawn early, which may account for the “granddaddy” critic groups all trying to go different directions, but 12 Years a Slave is proving a dominant force elsewhere. None of the winners here are particularly surprising as they are all repeat winners.
