No unpredictability here. The Art Directors Guild has managed to reinforce most of what we were thinking with this year’s awards, seen below.
The King’s Speech (Wesley, Peter, Tripp, Wes)
Inception (Wesley, Peter, Tripp, Wes)
Black Swan (RU:Wesley, RU:Peter, Tripp, Wes)
So, the oscars will either choose The King’s Speech or Inception for art direction.
If TKS will be sweeping the awards, it will probably win
If the academy wants to be fair and distribute the awards Inception might take it, it’s got the more original and innovative art direction.
