   by the way, I am personally disappointed that Tangled didn´t win for Original Song, as Disney did a brillant job this year combining its Musical tradition with a modern and original story-telling. And Alan Menken´s “I See the Light” ranks among his finest work.

      I thought I See the Light was inferior Menken…though, I wasn’t impressed by any of the original songs this year. Bound to You has a very nice vocal track, but that’s about it. Besides, I think there are two better songs in Tangled: “Mother Knows Best” and “Healing Incantation”.

         I agree with you wesley….I also liked “Mother Knows Best” and was shocked it did not even make it to the final choice. anyway while listening to “I see the light” and watching the scene in cinema I could feel the old Disney magic that was missing for so many years.

            If I Rise, the song from 127 hours (a movie I really hope the oscars honor it with many nominations) written by A.H. Raman and sung by Dido is very beautiful and used in a perfect moment in the film.

            And I Agree, for the most part, the songs this year haven’t been as “revolutionary” as the storytelling, special effects and scores.

   the fact it is different from the others doesn´t make it revolutionary…..the win reminds me of Santoalalla winning the Oscar for Babel. But of course it´s a matter of taste. I just think that the thrill and suspense in Inception was to a high degree delivered by Zimmer´s music…..and I simply love it.
   ….But when we talk about revolutionary things now: Why didn´t they honor Inception over The Social Network? Inception was revolutionary story-telling. I loved The Social Network and I think it is one of the best movies of the year. But I can´t get rid of the feeling this year is Fincher´s Award compensation for losing with Benjamin Button two years ago. Nevertheless he has done a fantastic film but I think Inception was more than a film..it was a revolution.

      You’re totally right regarding the screenplay award. Inception is more revolutionary than social network.

      And regarding the music, as you said it, it’s a matter of taste. Both scores are amazing, so who wins in the end is a bit random.

   Hans Zimmer Score was great and fitted the movie like a globe, but Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross Score of the Social Network was revolutionary, it was something very different from the commonly heard tunes in movies nowadays.

   I can only hope the Academy will honor Hans Zimmer´s great work on Inception. This was one of best scores I have heard in years…..
   I also hope Inception will came out with more than only tech awards, but I doubt it.

   I haven’t heard Social Network’s score yet, but I do love Inception’s. Of course, I’m not surprised. Outside of the Comedy/Musical categories, the HFPA doesn’t tend to go for big blockbusters. And it seems like they have been trying to live down their “being bought” reputation lately by trying to pick critical consensus choices.
