After 85 weeks, we’ve come to the end. It started off strong, but over time dwindled in participation. I realized a couple of weeks ago that I had started this off all wrong, especially considering how often I had to pit items against one another that were far enough apart to be hard comparisons early in the game. I’ve also figured out how to make it easier and faster for participants to cast their votes, thus enabling us to hopefully get more participation.
I haven’t forgotten your votes or your time and I appreciate the dedication of those who participated.
Starting at the beginning, I decided that it would be easier if we parsed all ties and multi-category years down into more easily managed sections. To that end, we start off with these. They will then be pushed together into later editions with the winners facing off one per year per category. There will be a lot of the same categories over the next few weeks. I also removed Foreign Language Film and Documentary Feature categories due to the unlikelihood that enough people will have seen the winners to make much of a difference. For each category, a separate poll will be created.
This is a much more efficient manner, I must say. The only thing I was fond of in the old method was to see who was casting their votes for who. I was always amused at just how often Peter and I disagreed 🙂
Only the first three categories are showing options. Categories 4-10 only indicate one choice. Also, if you want to draw attention to this it might be better to call it THE NEW (or REVISED) FRIDAY FACE-OFF instead of FRIDAY FACEOFF #86.
Now it’s reverted to the original three showing both options and the others showing only one again. Maybe you should create a guest sign-on and see if it looks any different to you.
