I have little doubt this movie will live up to its title well by stealing the audience’s time.

Abduction

Plot Summary: Raised by a family not his own, a teenage guy discovers he was abducted as a child and as assassins attempt to locate him, he goes on the lam trying to uncover his origin and discover whose after him and why.
Release Date: September 23, 2011

Poster

Trailer

Rating: B-
Commentary: Part of the poster’s scene is drawn directly from the trailer, but has been heavily edited, placing it someplace completely different and attempting to give it some sort of epic action feeling. In spite of this very obvious ploy, the design works in favor of the audience its approaching for business.
Rating: C; C-
Commentary: An interchangable action thriller featuring an actor with questionable talent relies more on the capabilities of his supporting cast (Alfred Molina, Sigourney Weaver) to bolster the predictable nature of the whole film. When you get the impression from the trailer that you already know who’s pursuing the boy and what the predictable twist at the end will be, you’ve failed to deliver something entertaining.

The second trailer shifts around some scenes in the trailer and ultimately fails to elicit a more cohesive understanding of why this film was important to be made. The only certainty I have after watching this is that the studio wants money desparately and they are willing to exploit an actor from a popular film series to sell expensive tickets to a crappy film.
