Rating: B-
Commentary: Our globetrotting heroes are back together and unless you’re familiar with the prior two films, this design probably won’t appeal to you. It’s a single scene from the film that may speak volumes about its plot, but which won’t get butts in the seats if they aren’t already fans.
Rating: B
Commentary: Richard Linklater, Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke are the Stephen Spielbergs of independent cinema in that they have created a celebrated film series that piques the imagination. The trailer does a fine job setting this up as a sequel to the Before Sunrise and Before Sunset, but people unfamiliar with the earlier films aren’t likely to be swayed by this trailer.

Oscar Chances: This is one of the most fiercely celebrated indie franchises in history, that it’s one of the few indie franchises doesn’t dismiss its chances. Linklater, Delpy and Hawke were all nominated for the second film’s screenplay and now that the Academy has expanded past five nominations, this is the film most likely to benefit from a small, devoted fanbase. It could be nominated for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay, but it will have to be a sensation to get any further.
