It’s not a normal Wednesday. There’s hardly anything to look at, but here goes. Two new trailers: Vampires Suck and Sinbad: The Fifth Voyage.
VAMPIRES SUCK
Plot Summary: A spoof of the recent vampire film crazy, focusing on the story of the Twilight films and also skewering other recent popular films. Release Date:August 18, 2010

Rating:B Commentary: Ok. So it’s not the greatest trailer and cinematically, these films have always been rather immaterial, but I can’t help but be amused by a number of the scenes late in the trailer. Will I see it? Probably, but mostly because I’ve seen almost all of the other Friedberg/Seltzer collaborations (except Date Movie) and sometimes I love to just send the brain out for ice cream and watch a cheap and crappy movie.
Rating:C Commentary: Not quite on par with some of the other more impressive posters in this litany of film spoofs, but certainly not as bad as efforts by other more serious features.

SINBAD THE FIFTH VOYAGE
Plot Summary: From the tales of the Arabian Nights, Sinbad travels into the desert to rescue the sultan’s first born daughter. Release Date:January 1, 2011

Rating:D Commentary: Is this a narrated story? It sure seems like it. On top of that, the performance of “Sinbad” looks amazingly bad, the graphics look like they are blending the intentionally cheesy with cgi. It looks like a mess.
Rating:C- Commentary: A substandard poster that’s only slightly improved over the lackluster trailer. It’s not visually appealing, it’s poorly laid out and the cheesy pose of the title character is, well, cheesy.
