Kerouac defined a generation; something the filmmakers only wish their film could do, but won’t.

Rating: C+
Commentary: Admittedly the colors and layout are better than a lot of what is presented on posters these days, it still seems somewhat lazy.
Rating: B / B-
Commentary: Avoiding too many details, the first trailer is stylish and compelling. While I’m not completely sold on the film, this is a good start. / The longer a trailer gets, the less interesting a film tends to look. This is largely due to the fact that more of the dramatic tension from the film is boiled down for the viewer, a hazard for encouraging appreciation of a deeper reflection of the subject.

Oscar Chances: Reviews haven’t exactly been stellar, but Walter Salles’ The Motorcycle Diaries did better with the Academy than I would have expected. Still, the difficulty of translating the novel to the screen may make some voters uncomfortable in recognizing a film…especially one starring Kristen Stewart.
