Star Trek: Into Darkness

	Rating: B+ Commentary: I’ve given praise to this type of gimmicky design in the past and I’ll give it credit for the effort. Fans of the franchise will recognize it instantly. It doesn’t excel much beyond that, however.	Rating: B- Commentary: The second film in the franchise reboot looks to be yet another action-sci-fi film in lieu of the more contemplative Trek films of the past. Personally it angers me, but for those who enjoyed the last JJ Abrams movie, this will certainly appeal to them.

Oscar Chances: The last Star Trek film managed to win Best Makeup after decades of being ignored. Will that occur again? Nothing in the trailer seems to indicate that; and since the franchise hasn’t been terribly successful or even close to being successful in any other categories, don’t expect this one to do much better.
