Rating: C+
Commentary: A desolate landscape in the frozen north of Canada. You don’t know it’s Canada by the design, so it isn’t as if that element jumps out at the viewer. Simplicity has been known to work, but sometimes things can be needlessly simplistic.
Rating: B+
Commentary: Sarah Polley is one of our most vital actor-directors working today. The documetnary looks like a fascinating exploration of the hidden recesses of her family’s history, which makes for an interesting subject for a documentary.

Oscar Chances: This is one of those documentaries that is still being talked about even after its festival run that started late last year. I could easily see this as one of the Best Documentary Feature nominees, but I don’t think it can win without a sweep of the critic prizes.
