1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
With the inanity of its competition, whether you like the Coens or not, you owe it to yourself to patronize serious, non-money-grubbing cinema. True Grit.
2. Which of the three new limited releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
Since I have seen Somewhere, I’m going to give it my recommendation. It’s a bit slow, but features two wonderful performances.

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
True Grit if you’re a western fan, a Coen Brothers fan or simply want to compare it to the original which won John Wayne an Oscar 41 years ago.
2. Which of the three new limited releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
The Illusionist – the director’s previous film, The Triplets of Belleville was a charming French-made animated feature. This one should be no less so.

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
Gulliver’s Travels is a perfect family film for the holiday weekend, while Little Fockers will provide the most laughs, but True Grit has the pedigree and buzz behind it to make it the must-see.
2. Which of the three new limited releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
All three have strong reasons to see them, from a supposedly strong Gwyneth Paltrow performance in Country Strong to the Jacques Tati script behind The Illusionist to the exciting filmmaking of Sofia Coppola with Somewhere.
