On Wednesdays, we preview all of the upcoming new wide and limited releases hitting the theaters the coming weekend. On Fridays, we’ll now tell you what you should see. We pose two questions each week to our contributors and their responses are posted below.

Wesley Lovell

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
I would have to go with For Colored Girls if only because the premise is more original than the other two films and sports a stellar cast. And this may well be the first and only time I recommend a Tyler Perry movie.
2. Which of the four new limited releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
While I’m certain everyone’s going to say 127 Hours, I’m not that keen on it myself, but when put against the others, it becomes a de facto recommendation. Though, I came very close to suggesting Client 9.

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
I’m not really recommending any of this week’s wide releases, but if I had to pick one it would be For Colored Girls for its cast and its reputation as a seminal Broadway play from the 1970s.
2. Which of the four new limited releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
127 Hours – it’s a safe bet that it will win a slew of year-end awards and be up for several Oscars including Best Picture.

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
For Colored Girls has the Oscar pedigree, Due Date looks the most entertaining and Megamind has the family appeal. Choose the one that best fits your viewing needs.
2. Which of the four new limited releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
127 Hours has the greatest buzz behind it, but the other three all have great word-of-mouth and fascinating storylines.

1. Which of the three new wide releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
Due Date because I’m a fan of Todd Phillips’ comedies and Robert Downey Jr. Road Trip and Old School are major guilty pleasures of mine, and The Hangover is raunchy comedy gold. Hell, I even liked Starsky & Hutch.
2. Which of the four new limited releases would you choose to recommend above the others?
127 Hours because it is a fascinating story from a talented, Oscar-winning filmmaking team that looks to be a major hit with the Academy.
