Neither of this week’s new releases seems like the kind of movie that will do massive box office but it’s possible The First Omen could beat the second weekend of Godzilla x Kong.

OTHER RELEASES

We are only looking at films that have had trailers released on Rotten Tomatoes’ trailer YouTube Channels. Below are some other films that are releasing this weekend that we haven’t considered.

Chicken For Linda! (Limited)
Coup De Chance (Limited)
Model House (Limited)
The Peopleโ€™s Joker (Limited)
Strictly Confidential (Limited)

WIDE RELEASES

THE FIRST OMEN

MONKEY MAN

The First Omen

Wesley Lovell: Religious horror films aren’t going to get me to the theater with any regularity and this certainly won’t be the film to change that desire.

Peter J. Patrick: The Omen needs to rest in peace.

Thomas La Tourrette: Horror films are not my thing and the trailer showed me nothing new.

Monkey Man

Wesley Lovell: If I had no interest in John Wick, why should I have any interest in this film?

Peter J. Patrick: Early reviews for Dev Patel’s directorial debut are strong.

Thomas La Tourrette: This looks too violent for my tastes, though the reviewers have liked it.

LIMITED RELEASES

THE BEAST

THE GREATEST HITS

HOUSEKEEPING FOR BEGINNERS

THE OLD OAK

PARACHUTE

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: Some decent possibilities this week.

Peter J. Patrick: Ken Loach’s BAFTA-nominated The Old Oak is a must-see, the others are strong maybes.

Thomas La Tourrette: Amazingly they all look pretty interesting. The Greatest Hits has the most intriguing premise, but sadly the worst reviews. The Beast is perplexing but might prove worthwhile. The other three are human interest stories that at least on the surface could be worth seeing.
