With three titles available, this should be an interesting weekend. All of them appeal to different demographics, so it could be an overall strong total weekend. That said, picking the top selection will be tough and while I could see a case for any of the three topping it, I’m leaning towards Mean Girls as the winner given it has more cross-demo appeal.

OTHER RELEASES

We are only looking at films that have had trailers released on Rotten Tomatoes’ trailer YouTube Channels. Below are some other films that are releasing this weekend that we haven’t considered.

I Did It My Way (Limited)
Inshallah a Boy (Limited)

T.I.M. (Limited)

WIDE RELEASES

THE BEEKEEPER

THE BOOK OF CLARENCE

MEAN GIRLS

The Beekeeper

Wesley Lovell: Not a fan of dumb action movies, especially not ones like this.

Peter J. Patrick: Overly violent nonsense.

Thomas La Tourrette: A violent and unpleasant looking revenge fantasy, I will pass.

The Book of Clarence

Wesley Lovell: It might be a humorous satire. It has a great cast, so that helps.

Peter J. Patrick: Pointless biblical satire.

Thomas La Tourrette: There is some humor in the trailer, but not enough for me to want to see the movie right now.

Mean Girls

Wesley Lovell: I would need to see the original film first, but I’m game.

Peter J. Patrick: Musical version of teen comedy was okay at best on stage.

Thomas La Tourrette: The original movie was not that good, but the musical stage version was decent. The trailers are okay, but not thrilling. And the early release date does not bode well for how the studio feels about the film.

LIMITED RELEASES

DRIVING MADELEINE

THE SETTLERS

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: Neither of these look entirely up my alley, but Driving Madeleine has some promise.

Peter J. Patrick: Two very different foreign language films – one a French Make Way for Tomorrow, the other a hard-hitting Chilean western – look compelling in different ways.

Thomas La Tourrette: Driving Madeleine looks like a charmer. The Settlers should be riveting, and the reviews are mostly good, but the trailer just does not breed interest.
