Another week at the top for The Mandalorian and Grogu is all but assured since this week’s new wide releases are a bit anemic. Backrooms and The Breadwinner are the most likely to top the new releases and I give the edge to Backrooms.
OTHER RELEASES
We are only looking at films that have had trailers released on Rotten Tomatoes’ trailer YouTube Channels. Below are some other films that are releasing this weekend that we haven’t considered.
Lucid (Limited)
Pitfall (Limited)
Time And Water (Limited)

Backrooms
Wesley Lovell: I love a good trippy horror film and this certainly looks like it could be and might provide a framework or template for a book like House of Leaves to get adapted.
Pete Patrick: The TV series on which this is based is highly rated as I may make this a rare modern horror film that I will actually watch.
Thomas La Tourrette: It boasts an interesting trailer even if I have no idea what the movie is about.
The Breadwinner
Wesley Lovell: The comedy looks sophomoric and the film might have some charms but it’s not really for me.
Pete Patrick: Looks sappy.
Thomas La Tourrette: Looks like an updated version of Mr. Mom. Might be cute, but nothing more.
Pressure
Wesley Lovell: An attempt to make a historical situation look interesting without providing anything interesting to see.
Pete Patrick: Decent looking D-Day drama with a superb cast might be worth seeking out.
Thomas La Tourrette: Not sure about this World War II movie. It has an interesting premise but seems overblown.

The Limited Slate
Wesley Lovell: A few interesting options this week but nothing that screams “must see.”
Pete Patrick: Only Power Ballad from John Carney (Sing Street) looks promising among this group.
Thomas La Tourrette: Almost all of the films have some decent early reviews, but I do not feel a need to rush out to see any of them.
