With the surprise performance of Backrooms, can any of these new releases stop it from a second week at the top? Masters of the Universe will either prove that 1980s nostalgia is still ascendant or the end of the road. Scary Movie 6 might revive the franchise like the recent new Scream incarnations but that’s uncertain.

WIDE RELEASES
THE AMAZING DIGITAL CIRCUS: THE LAST ACT MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE SCARY MOVIE 6

The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act

Wesley Lovell: I’m sure there’s a fanbase out there for this but it’s not me.

Pete Patrick: I have no interest whatsoever in seeing the last two episodes of this web series animated horror comedy strung together as a theatrical release.

Masters of the Universe

Wesley Lovell: I did watch He-Man in its initial run and remember liking it but nothing about this throwback looks enticing.

Pete Patrick: Not interested in this fantasy film in development from studio to studio since 2007.

Scary Movie 6

Wesley Lovell: I have always loved spoofs even when they are the most ludicrous and eye-rollingly awful. It’s good to have this series back.

Pete Patrick: I managed to avoid all five previous editions, no reason for me to check this one out.

LIMITED RELEASES
ANOTHER WORLD CAROLINA CAROLINE CHUM JINSEI SAVAGE HOUSE

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: Perhaps Richard E. Grant can liven up this dull set of options this week.

Pete Patrick: There’s nothing here for me.
