Too many wide release, so many narrow demographics, it’s difficult to say which of these will be the biggest wide release. Clayface is the only horror film on the list and getting close to Halloween will encourage attendance. That it’s also a comic book adaptation may bolster its chances.

WIDE RELEASES
ALI G: WHO IZ I? CLAYFACE KLARA AND THE SUN A TALENT FOR MURDER WICKER WILDWOOD

Ali G: Who Iz I?

Wesley Lovell: I’ve never been a fan of Sacha Baron Cohen’s style so this holds little appeal for me.

Pete Patrick: I have to be in the mood for Sacha Baron Cohen to watch one of his films.

Clayface

Wesley Lovell: I’m curious to see how the second attempt at good comic book horror will turn out.

Pete Patrick: Looks like another unappealing horror film.

Klara and the Sun

Wesley Lovell: It has an appealing cast, director, and concept but the trailer doesn’t scream exceptional.

Pete Patrick: Sci-fi film with an interesting premise may work.

A Talent for Murder

Wesley Lovell: A good cast and an interesting premise but a lot of potential for it to underwhelm.

Pete Patrick: Helen Mirren as Patricia Highsmith could work.

Wicker

Wesley Lovell: It looks a bit corny but could be quite interesting. It’s certainly one of the most unique things we’ve seen in recent years.

Pete Patrick: It looks hilarious.

Wildwood

Wesley Lovell: Laika’s stop-motion animated films have all been terrific, so I’m stoked for this one.

Pete Patrick: The year’s most highly anticipated animated film looks like a winner.

LIMITED RELEASES
FATHERLAND LOVE LANGUAGE THE ONLY LIVING PICKPOCKET IN NEW YORK POSSIBLE LOVE

The Limited Slate

Wesley Lovell: Fatherland has the most potential and Love Language might be ok but otherwise, I’m not impressed with this selection.

Pete Patrick: Fatherland, The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, and Possible Love have all been heavily praised by critics so I will be looking forward to seeing them.
